The Drill America dwtpt Series Qualtech carbon steel pipe Tap is crafted to clean and/or re-thread damaged or jam pipe threads, accommodating a variety of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

The nominal size of the pipe Tap corresponds to the pipe fitting to be tapped, rather than the actual size of the Tap itself. With a thread taper of 3/4 of an inch per foot, the Tap features a 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 thread chamfer. This allows for the use of sealers like Teflon tape or pipe compound, as required for NPT threads.

The Uncoated Tap offers a base substrate without any additional treatments or coatings, making it suitable for a wide array of applications. Its round shank with a square end provides a sturdy and versatile design. The Tap's straight flute allows for efficient chip collection during shallow cutting operations, while the right-hand cutting action engages when rotated in a clockwise direction.

When operated in a counterclockwise direction, the spiral fluted design of the drill bit effectively evacuates chips up and out of the cut, reducing the risk of clogging.
